WORKSHOP

Presenter

Caitlin Janzen works as the Fellowships specialist in the University of Calgary Postdoctoral Office. Prior to joining the University of Calgary, Caitlin was a Research Manager for community-based research projects at the University of Victoria where she secured funding from SSHRC, CIHR, Department of Justice, Canada and United Way. Her latest co-edited collection is titled Contemporary Vulnerabilities: Reflections on Social Justice Methodologies.

What will be covered?

This workshop will begin with an overview of different types of funding opportunities before offering strategies and tools to search for relevant funding opportunities. Beyond the Tri-agencies, this workshop will focus on ‘roads less travelled’ such as societies and foundations, industry funding and non-profit funding. Caitlin will then discuss common components of funding applications, focusing on the proposal as an opportunity to tell a story about who you are and why your research matters.
