Jessica Tran is in her first year of her Master of Biomedical Engineering. She previously worked with the lab during her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering, where she completed her thesis analyzing data from a single lumbar inertial measurement unit (IMU) to assess the effects of social presence on stability, smoothness, and variability. She will now continue her work by analyzing IMU data to compare laboratory and free-living gait and assess data sufficiency for real-world gait assessments in older adults. Jessica chose to join HCL because she wanted to continue her academic journey and develop her engineering skills by working with novel technology that can improve gait analysis and the lives of older adults. Outside of the lab, Jessica enjoys hiking, playing piano, and sports like volleyball and badminton!
