Saman Abbasi

Hi, my name is Saman! I am a second-year Mechanical Engineering student minoring in Mechatronics at the University of Calgary. Research is a new field for me, which is why I’m excited to learn new skills, take on new challenges, and contribute to innovation.

Previously, I worked at the LNG Canada industrial site in Kitimat, BC, where I gained exposure to real-world engineering applications in an industrial setting and was able to connect them to concepts from the classroom. Similarly, I’m particularly interested in applying my engineering background while continuing to develop new technical skills and contribute to the Healthy City Lab team this Summer 2026.

Technology, politics, and investing are some of my interests. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports, working out, and practicing the piano. I’m always up for a challenge, enjoy learning new things, and value meeting new people to gain new perspectives.
